Blanka Bošnjak: Motivacija za branje s kratko prozo. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 3–15.
V prispevku bomo predstavili pojmovni okvir motivacije za branje ter njeno umestitev v kontekst bralne pismenosti, cilj prispevka pa je tudi oblikovati predloge za branje v okviru starostnih stopenj v tretjem vzgojno-izobraževalnem obdobju osnovne šole in v srednji šoli oz. oblikovati določena priporočila za branje glede na sprejete gradnike bralne pismenosti. V tem kontekstu je treba izbirati primerne vsebine bralnega gradiva glede na snov, teme, motive, sporočilnost in medpredmetno povezljivost. Pomembno je upoštevati tudi dolžino teksta, zato so za izbrane starostne stopnje in različne učne predmete za spodbujanje bralne motivacije predlagana besedila kratke proze (zlasti novele in kratke zgodbe), saj jih je mogoče zaradi kračine prebrati v enem branju.

Blanka Bošnjak: Reading Motivation with Short Prose. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 3–15.
The paper introduces the conceptual framework of motivation for reading and its placement in the context of reading literacy. The goal of the contribution is, among other things, to form specific reading recommendations within the framework of the age levels of the third cycle of basic education at primary and secondary schools, as well as recommendations for reading according to the approved cornerstones for reading literacy. In this context, it is necessary to select the appropriate content of the reading material in terms of subject matter, topics and motives, as well as the informative aspect and cross-curricular connectivity. However, it is also important to take into account the length of text, which is why short prose texts (especially novellas and short stories) are suggested for reading motivation for selected age levels and for different subjects, as they can be read in one reading.

Aleš Čeh, Miran Štuhec: Literatura in dialog z videoigrami na primeru romanov Puščava, Klet, Katakombe in Anastrofa. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 17–26.
V prispevku sta obravnavana romana mlajše generacije slovenskih pisateljev, ki v leposlovje vnašata pripovedne tehnike in lastnosti, značilne za medij videoiger. Prispevek oba romana umesti v širši kontekst medmedijske povezanosti videoiger in literature ter njun transferni odnos ponazori s primeri, ki so pomembni za razumevanje razsežnosti danega pojava. Anastrofa, krajši roman Muanisa Sinanovića, tako pripovedne tehnike videoiger izkoristi predvsem za gradnjo prostora v pripovedi, Puščava, klet, katakombe, esejistični roman Anje Radaljac, pa v dialog z medijem videoiger vstopi zaradi prepričljivejšega podajanja esejističnega diskurza in večje bralčeve interakcije z besedilom. Ker je medmedijski transfer med igrami in literaturo v slovenskem prostoru vse pogostejši, prispevek prinaša pilotno analizo tega novodobnega pripovednega pojava.

Aleš Čeh, Miran Štuhec: Literature and Its Dialogue with Video Games in the Novels Puščava, Klet, Katakombe and Anastrofa. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 17–26.
The paper explores two novels from the younger generation of Slovenian writers that implement narrative techniques and attributes specific to the video game medium. It places both novels in the broader context of intermediality between video games and literature, and illustrates their transmedial relationship through examples relevant to understanding the magnitude of the phenomenon. Anastrofa, a short novel by Muanis Sinanović, uses video game narrative techniques primarily for space-building within the narrative, whereas the novel-essay Puščava, klet, katakombe by Anja Radaljac enters the dialogue with the video game medium through a more convincing presentation of essayist discourse and a higher degree of reader interaction with the text. Due to the increasing frequency of intermedial transfer between video games and literature in the Slovenian space, the paper provides a pilot analysis of this contemporary narrative phenomenon.

Nastja Spasković: Karakterizacija v romanih Plamenice in solze ter Ženska francoskega poročnika. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 27–35.
Subjekti v postmodernističnih pripovedih so izredno variabilni in čeprav ne obstaja enotna definicija, ki bi opredelila njihove značilnosti, Aleid Fokemma ponuja izhodišča za njihovo določitev. Članek se ukvarja z vprašanji karakterizacije v postmodernistični literaturi in ponuja primerjavo romana Andreja Blatnika Plamenice in solze ter romana Johna Fowlesa Ženska francoskega poročnika kot izhodišče za uvid v značilnosti literarne osebe v slovenskem postmodernizmu.

Nastja Spasković: Excerpt Characterisation in the Novels Plamenice in solze and The French Lieutenant’s Woman. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 27–35.
The subjects in postmodern narratives are extremely variable. Although there is no uniform definition that would define their characteristics, Aleid Fokemma offers starting points for their determination. The article discusses questions about the subject in postmodern literature and offers a comparison of the Slovenian postmodern novel Plamenice in solze by Andrej Blatnik and The French Lieutenant’s Woman by John Fowles as a starting point for insight into the characteristics of the postmodern literary character.

Andrea Leskovec: Izkustvo tujega in responzivnost v Cankarjevem romanu Tujci. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 37–48.
Predmet pričujočega prispevka je roman Tujci Ivana Cankarja, ki doslej še ni bil predmet obsežne analize. Glavni motiv romana je tujost, ki je prikazana na več načinov in ki je rezultat zaznavanja. Protagonist Pavle Slivar sebe namreč doživlja kot izobčenca in svoj občutek tujosti projicira na zunanji svet. Tako nastaja nekakšen vakuum, v katerem je sam tujec in v katerem tudi druge doživlja kot tujce. V tem prostoru odtujevanja ni responzivnega ravnanja z drugim kot tudi ne zaznavanja drugega/tujega. Razlog moramo iskati v različnih centrizmih, ki zaznavanje drugega/tujega usmerjajo, in v pojmu subjekta, na katerem temelji Cankarjev roman. Pri analizi se opremo na teorijo responzivnosti fenomenologa Bernharda Waldenfelsa.

Andrea Leskovec: Experience of the Foreign and Responsiveness in the Novel Tujci by Ivan Cankar. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 37–48.
The paper deals with Ivan Cankar’s novel Tujci, which has not yet been the subject of extensive analysis. The novel’s main motif is foreignness, which is portrayed in many ways and is the result of perception. The protagonist Pavle Slivar experiences himself as an outcast and projects his sense of foreignness to the outside world. This creates a kind of vacuum in which he is a stranger and experiences others as strangers. In this space of alienation, there is no responsive treatment of the other, nor is there perception of the other/the foreign. The reason for this must be sought in the various centrisms that direct the perception of the other/the foreign and in the concept of the subject on which Cankar’s novel is based. In the analysis, we turn to the theory of responsiveness of phenomenologist Bernhard Waldenfels.

Tadej Kralj: Slovenščina kot jezik dediščine v slovenski skupnosti v Torontu. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 49–63.
Slovenska skupnost v Torontu deluje v multikulturnem okolju z dvema uradnima jezikoma – angleščino in francoščino. V prispevku obravnavam slovenščino kot dediščinski jezik v tamkajšnji slovenski priseljenski skupnosti, ki so ga govorci ob priseljevanju prinesli s seboj iz svojega prvotnega, tj. slovensko govorečega okolja, in ga prenašajo na naslednje generacije potomcev slovenskih priseljencev. Obravnavam položaj slovenščine kot dediščinskega jezika v slovenski skupnosti. Zanima me vloga slovenščine pri treh različnih tipih uporabnikov slovenščine, ki sem jih opredelil na osnovi teorije o dediščinskih jezikih.

Tadej Kralj: Slovenian as a Heritage Language among its Users in the Slovenian Community in Toronto. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 49–63.
The Slovenian community in multicultural Toronto functions with two official languages: English and French. In my contribution, I place Slovenian among heritage languages brought by speakers from their authentic environment – in this case, the Slovenian-speaking environment – on immigrating and transmitted to the next generations of the Slovenian immigrants’ descendants. I deal with a position of Slovenian as a heritage language in the Slovenian community. I am interested in the role of Slovenian with three types of language users identified with a help of heritage language theory.

Irina Makarova Tominec: Slovenščina z ruskim naglasom: jezikovni profil ruskogovorečega priseljenca. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 65–82.
Članek ponuja pregled in analizo pogostejših primerov jezikovnih napak v slovenščini, ki jih delajo rusko govoreči priseljenci. Predstavitev temelji na analizi pogovorov z 10 informatorji s posebnim poudarkom na jezikovnih značilnostih začetniških govorcev, ki oblikujejo vmesni jezikovni sistem na stiku dveh sorodnih jezikov. Izhodišče članka predstavljajo temeljne ugotovitve predvsem sodobnih ruskih psiholingvistov (Cejtlin, Gagarina, Dobrova, Jelisejeva, Polinskaja, Vojejkova, Zalevskaja), ki se raziskovalno ukvarjajo z usvajanjem jezika.

Irina Makarova Tominec: The Russian Accent in Slovenian: The Linguistic Profile of Russian-Speaking Migrants. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 65–82.
The article offers a preview and a linguistic evaluation of the most typical errors identified in Slovenian speech production of Russian-speaking migrants. The study is based on a transcription of interviews with ten informants, mostly beginner speakers of Slovenian, focusing on problem-solving mechanisms in L2 communication in two related Slavic languages. The research is theoretically based on concepts used primarily in contemporary Russian psycholinguistics (Tsejtlin, Gagarina, Dobrova, Jelisejeva, Polinskaja, Vojejkova, Zalevskaja), dealing with the process of language acquisition in both the first and the second language.

Urša Ambrožič: Pleonastična nikalnica v slovenskem jeziku in vprašanje dvoumnosti. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 83–93.
Površinska lektura v slovenskem jeziku ne omogoča ločevanja med pravim stavčnim in pleonastičnim zanikanjem. Šele globinska analiza nas pripelje do razpoznavanja vloge pleonastične nikalnice v določenem skladenjskem okolju. Norma na podlagi te vloge določa okolja, v katerih je raba pleonastične nikalnice obvezna, v nekaterih primerih pa (skladno z rabo) dopušča variantnost. Ker je razumevanje jezika delno povezano tudi s posameznikovim subjektivnim doživljanjem, lahko takšna variantnost spodbudi misel o pomenskem razločku med propozicijama, kar zaradi površinske prekrivnosti v skrajnosti pomeni tudi dve povsem protislovni interpretaciji. Pričujoča razprava povzame določene pomenske omejitve, ki jih je treba upoštevati pri odločitvi o (ne)rabi pleonastičnega zanikanja, pri čemer dejanska raba (ki temelji na instinktivnosti) ni dosledna in s tvorbo analognih struktur vnaša dodatno pomensko zmedo. V tem oziru razprava opozarja na previdnost pri odločujočih besedilih pravne norme, kjer lahko takšna pomenska dvoumnost pomeni velike normativne posledice za življenje ljudi.

Urša Ambrožič: Pleonastic Negation in Slovenian and the Question of Ambiguity in Legislative Language. Jezik in slovstvo. 1/2020. 83–93.
Cursory proofreading of a text does not enable differentiation between sentential negation and pleonastic negation in Slovenian. Only in-depth analysis can lead us to a better understanding of the role of pleonastic negation in certain syntactic environments. The norm based on this role defines the environments in which the use of pleonastic negation is obligatory, but in some cases, depending on the use, it also allows variability. Understanding a language is partially connected to a person’s subjective perception; therefore, this kind of variability can stimulate thoughts about a difference in meaning between the two propositions, which can ultimately mean two completely contradictory interpretations due to the meaning seemingly overlapping. The present paper recapitulates certain restrictions of meaning that must be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to use pleonastic negation, as its use (usually based on instinct) is not consistent and introduces disarray in meaning into the text through the formation of analogical structures. In this regard, the paper advises caution when dealing with decisive texts of legal importance, as any kind of ambiguity in meaning could have significant consequences in people’s lives.
